Question: As the digital tide rises, who are the lighthouses and harbor masters guiding companies through the treacherous waters…?
This nautical metaphor came to me last week during IDEAS Boston overlooking Boston harbor from the Federal Reserve Bank building (the picture above is Rotterdam, Netherlands and represents the Net these days - don't you think?).
Is Google a lighthouse? Is Digitas a harbor master, ship builder... marina? How suited are they at managing needs and opportunities between the digital (harbor) and traditional (landlubber) worlds? Can they navigate alone? What are the requirements between partnerships so each are maneuverable enough for success - beyond survival - on the high seas?
Am I a pirate? Looking for the most direct route for success... breaking rules.
